Great burgers availablein the wee hours of the night after taco stands close. My cousins introduced me to this place and I'm glad that they did

Overall, I didn't like the burger but it was fresh and the fries were hot so I'm giving 4/5 stars. This may be the place for you if you aren't looking for a homemade burger. You can tell it is not a home made burger, but it's good for the price point! Lady that checked me out wasn't very welcoming so another reason for the down vote. For the price I think everyone should at least try it once.

This place has been around for 60 years. For some people it might look a little sketchy, but people are there to eat, not cause trouble. My wife & I went there around 9:30pm on a Saturday. You have to go around on Harrington St to pull into their parking lot. The menu is large - burgers, tacos, burritos, breakfast sandwiches, egg rolls, on and on. I had a big Poppa burger with cheese & jalapeno, fries and a Coke. Great for the price. My wife had a little Poppa burger (also with cheese & jalapeno), and fries with chili and cheese. She was very happy, and we got out of there for less than $30. If you're looking for artisan ingredients, table service, or "the best in town," you'll probably be disappointed. But if you're looking for a piece of Houston history and culture, fun counter staff, and a solid meal at a great price, definitely give this place a shot. People were bringing their whole families there, and many were talking to the counter guy like an old friend. Very worth it.

Passed by this place to many times and finally stopped by and it did not disappoint. I got a bacon cheeseburger add a fried egg and fries ! The bacon was well done and the burger was sooo good. Highly recommended

There's a song about this place and about my little cat Starlight, it's by Madonna, it's called Poppa Burger Don't Preach, and it goes like this. Poppa Burger I know you're going to be upset 'Cause I brought Starlight, my little girl But you should know by now She's just a baby I always taught her right from wrong She needs your fish, said daddy give me some She may be young at heart But I know that she's purring This is the burger I told her all about The one I said she couldn't do without But she's made an awful mess All over your table, pleeeeeease Poppa don't preach, your table is all furry Poppa don't preach, Starlight just took a pee But I made up my mind, I'm feeding my baby.... Ooh, I'm gonna feed my fur baby, mmm Barbi says that she's going to marry me We can raise a kitten family Maybe we'll be all right, if we drink lots of Boba But my friends keep telling me to give her up Saying she's a stripper and a total sl** What they don't understand is, that's why I love her (And I make her look like a saint) Poppa don't preach, Barbi's super deep Poppa Yu don't preach, Starlight's made my food furry And she's marking your counter, and, she shed in your lobby Ooh, she shed all over your lobby Oooh, ohhhh I have to be completely honest and say that I wasn't very impressed by this burger shop, and I wanted to be, because there are some surprisingly good burger shops here in Houston and I hoped this would be one of them, but honestly for me this isn't one of them and it doesn't really do it for me. But having said that I like the late-night vibe and I like some of the service here, not so much all the homeless visitors and iffy moments though, and it is open extremely late and the products aren't bad, they just aren't my favourite. But I think it's important to recognize that just because I don't like a place as much as I wanted to, doesn't take away from the fact that they're serving food late night, and doesn't take away from the fact that they're family owned in a world full of chains, and it doesn't take away from the fact that it's been here a long time and it brought a lot of late-night delight to a community which just doesn't have a lot of late-night foods. And they deal with a lot of problems such as the homeless and crime in this neighbourhood, and they deal with them well, and are brave in the face of that, and what's more they take care of the neighbouring Stray Cats (not sure why that got capitalized), and keep their prices low. And in times like covid, businesses like this need more help than ever, and I find it pretty shameful to read some people's treatment of businesses and their reasoning on why they're going to go around giving bad ratings to little places like this, which is why, for a place which I personally am not really into, I'm still definitely giving 4 stars. And I like it when they call this place Big Poppa. So throw your buns in the ayer, if you like your burger ray-er. Like, with blood dripping out of it?
